If in doubt, breath out!
We only have a few weeks left in Autumn, so make the most of it!
Autumn is a time to stop and smell the roses. It’s a time when we should slow down and take stock of what is happening in our lives. Asking ourselves what it is we need to be healthy and happy, identify what we no longer need and then be prepared to let it go.
If you want to go into Winter free of excess, whether that be emotional or physical, then start your de-cluttering now when the energy of Autumn is urging you to streamline your life.
Time to discard what you don’t need
I always start with my wardrobe and kitchen cupboards. The process of deciding what I need (or will every use again) is a great way to reevaluate the habits we have in our lives. The simple task of filling up bags to give away to charity or recycling centres is always quite liberating.
Autumn is a time to gather strength, endurance and stamina. To regain vitality in your life, with exercises, Metal element yoga together with foods that stimulate the Lungs and Large Intestine.
Autumn is also a great season for a detox. The contracting energy of the Metal element will support you while you rid yourself of unwanted toxins, habits emotions and thoughts.
Make a start
So if you are looking for a cheap way to make the most of what is left of Autumn, try skipping coffee, processed sugar and stimulants and replace them with seasonal whole foods. There is something primitive, organic, and honest about eating seasonal foods. Its how people ate before refrigerators and microwaves came along.
If this sounds like a plan then, next time you go shopping, look for foods with a pungent taste. This includes foods such as:
Rice, Navy and Soya beans, Almonds, Asparagus, Broccoli, Celery, Cucumber, Mustard Greens, Onion, Radish, Apricot, Banana, Pear, Pumpkins, Root vegetables, Hearty grains.
Check out one of our very own recipes which I am completely obsessed with Adzuki bean & pumpkin stew on the blog right now.
Perfect autumnal food!
