We know that you put your mind, body, and spirit into your yoga and teaching. And sometimes this dedication comes at a cost. That is why we will be running this retreat a little differently this year.
All yoga sessions will be practical meridian yoga workshops to improve your ability to teach for individual needs, further develop your teaching skills and your personal practice. Yes, there will be lots of yoga, but every workshop will be focused on the skills you need to help people get more from your classes and the yoga you teach.
More teachers and trainers will be at the retreat to foster personal and professional development and self-care routines. This year teachers/students will be given to opportunity to assist and learn in a more inclusive mentoring style program. Here are just a few of the things we have planned this year:
Immerse yourself in the yoga that you love, Japanese Meridian Yoga Therapy. Restore balance to your body and get yourself in the right place, with a little help from your teachers and mentors, to be well enough to help others with their post-isolation health issues.
Personal & Professional Growth
COTY Yoga Retreats are designed to support you, our graduate teachers, and students to foster personal and professional development.
Change can only occur if we make space for it in our lives. We need that break from familiar surroundings, family, and work. Our retreats offer a chance to change – all you need to do is make the space in your busy life and come along.
Our Daoist theory of Yin and Yang can be applied to everything in our lives and the laws reinforce the idea of ever-changing, ever-transforming energy and the concept of changing the old to make new. This theory is the underlying principle of our retreats, whether it’s applied to our yoga practice, macrobiotic whole food, breath work, the season, the timing for activities, or supporting therapies such as massage and mindfulness techniques. This gives you the best chance of taking that breath out and allowing for positive supportive energy and change.
Remember, you are what lies in the place between Yin and Yang. You are the pause where the change is found and this retreat is the pause you need to do it.
The yoga, balance, and breath of energy
This year our focus is on recognition of the postures and movements. What elements you are using and how the energy can be harnessed for a therapeutic result. How to recognise the energetic dynamics of the season and how to adapt your classes to suit. Learn to optimise the natural ebb and flow of energy during a class. How to recognise what is working and what is not. If your clients are ready for the yoga you are about to teach, and if not, what to teach instead.
The Support
This year you will have more choice, decide what you want to do (or not). Whether it is a morning yoga jog, cold shower, body scrub, or relaxing under a tree, you can decide what feels right for you and your retreat goals.
A yoga teacher’s only experience designed to support our graduate teachers and current students of Japanese Remedial Yoga.

This valuable skill will support you as a teacher to identify personal and client imbalances through active body movements. You will also learn how to teach Remedial Yoga Therapy (RYT) asanas and how to incorporate them into your class or use the therapy asanas for individual remedial therapy. Adjustment movements, partner work and RYT adjustment moves will cover:

Meditation in Action One of the basic methods for developing mindfulness is a “walking meditation.” This ancient practice involves focusing on the physical experience of walking, paying attention to the specific components of each step. Buddhist monks have been doing it for centuries and understand the potential of calming the mind through purposeful walking. Practice the slow extended breath and pauses practiced in the earlier sessions.
